Egypt Itinerary: Should You Choose 8 Days or 11 Days?

Choose eight days for our Cairo, Aswan, Nile cruise and Luxor route. Choose eleven days if you also want Abu Simbel by land, Saqqara, more time in Cairo and two nights in Hurghada. These are eight-day/seven-night and eleven-day/ten-night programs, including arrival and departure days.

Count usable days as well as hotel nights

An Egypt itinerary can look spacious on paper until the arrival flight, domestic connections and departure transfer are added. Our eight-day program has seven nights; our eleven-day program has ten. Neither gives you eight or eleven complete days of sightseeing.

Start by listing the experiences you would most regret missing. Then choose a route that fits them without relying on every flight arriving early or every transfer taking the minimum possible time. If you want a gentler pace, ask us about adapting a private itinerary.

The 8-day Egypt itinerary: Cairo and the Nile

Our shorter program connects Cairo and Giza with Aswan, a Nile cruise and Luxor, returning to Cairo before departure. It suits travelers who want a focused introduction to the country’s celebrated ancient sites.

  1. Day 1 — Cairo arrival. Meet your pickup, transfer to the hotel and settle in.
  2. Day 2 — Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Visit the pyramids, stop for lunch and explore the museum.
  3. Day 3 — Travel to Aswan. Visit the High Dam, Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk before cruise check-in.
  4. Day 4 — Aswan and Kom Ombo. Visit the Botanical Garden and continue with the cruise program.
  5. Day 5 — Edfu and Luxor. Explore Edfu Temple and visit Luxor Temple as the route continues.
  6. Day 6 — Luxor and return to Cairo. Visit the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Karnak, then travel to Cairo.
  7. Day 7 — Historic Cairo. Visit the Citadel, Old Coptic Cairo and Ben Ezra Synagogue, with lunch included. Access is subject to local arrangements.
  8. Day 8 — Departure. Check out and transfer for your onward journey.

Day 6 combines important sightseeing with a travel connection. If you prefer longer visits or more recovery time, tell us rather than assuming the shorter program is automatically the easier one. The detailed proposal confirms transport and operational timing.

The 11-day Egypt itinerary: ancient sites and the Red Sea

The longer program follows a different daily arrangement. Its ten nights comprise four in Cairo, three aboard the Nile cruise, one in Luxor and two in Hurghada.

  1. Day 1 — Arrive in Cairo. Transfer to your hotel and relax.
  2. Day 2 — Giza and Saqqara. Visit the pyramids and Sphinx, then continue to the Step Pyramid complex, with lunch.
  3. Day 3 — Museum and historic Cairo. Explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, Old Coptic Cairo and Ben Ezra Synagogue, subject to access, with lunch.
  4. Day 4 — Fly to Aswan. Visit the High Dam, Philae and the Unfinished Obelisk, then embark on the cruise.
  5. Day 5 — Abu Simbel by land and Aswan. Depart early by private air-conditioned vehicle for a guided visit to Abu Simbel. Return to Aswan by road, visit the Botanical Garden and rejoin the Nile cruise. Departure time and visit order are coordinated with the confirmed sailing schedule.
  6. Day 6 — Kom Ombo and Edfu. Visit the temples as the cruise continues toward Luxor.
  7. Day 7 — Luxor’s East Bank. Disembark, visit Karnak and Luxor Temple and check in to your Luxor hotel.
  8. Day 8 — West Bank and Hurghada. Explore the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple before the road transfer to the Red Sea.
  9. Day 9 — Hurghada leisure. Rest at the hotel or request an optional activity at additional cost.
  10. Day 10 — Return to Cairo. Fly from Hurghada and transfer to your hotel.
  11. Day 11 — Departure. Transfer to Cairo airport for your international flight.

Karnak is visited once, on Day 7. The two Hurghada nights provide one full leisure day, rather than two complete beach days. Cruise navigation and access can change the order of visits.

Private dates or a scheduled group?

Both lengths are available in Standard and Comfort formats, privately or as group programs. Private multi-day tours are planned for your own party and dates. Scheduled groups require 8–16 participants in total; the published seven-night departures and any future ten-night dates must be checked separately.

All our Nile cruise stays are full board. Hotel meal plans, cruise names and the Hurghada hotel are confirmed in the proposal. The Comfort ten-night program also includes the Great Pyramid interior and Tutankhamun’s tomb; do not assume those entries apply to every category.

Abu Simbel by land on Day 5 is included in both Standard and Comfort ten-night programs, privately or with a group. It is not included in the seven-night base itinerary. Tell us your must-see places before choosing a program, and we can help you decide which length makes sense.
